Trump Announces Trade Deal with Indonesia, Fourth Since Reciprocal Tariffs Began
President TRUMP has secured a trade agreement with Indonesia, marking his fourth such deal since implementing reciprocal tariffs in April. The announcement came via a Truth Social post where Trump praised the agreement as "great for everybody" and hinted at forthcoming details. Indonesia's inclusion follows prior deals with the UK, China, and Vietnam.
The agreement averts a threatened 32% tariff on Indonesian exports set to take effect August 1. Negotiations were led by Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, who met with key US officials including Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
This development mirrors recent US trade maneuvers, including a revised tariff structure with Vietnam that imposes 20% on direct exports and 40% on transshipped goods. The US-China tariff truce remains in effect but faces an August deadline.
